Holistic & Artisan Fair

Help up Give Back to the Local Community!

Enjoy a variety of holistic practitioners and find great gift ideas while you support our local community. Proceeds are being donated to 541 Eatery & Exchange - a place where people can share with one another & everyone has a place at the table.

We will be offering mini Muscle Tuning Sessions at this event.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Phew! I did it.

I did it!

The April A-Z challenge was an awesome opportunity to connect with other bloggers, find great new blogs to follow and hone up on my posting skills.    I have to admit though, I'm glad it's over.  Thirty posts in thirty days is tough for me to sustain.  In non-April months I'm not usually online on a daily basis, so I'm happy to revert back to my pre-challenge posting schedule of once per week (sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on life).

The main focus of my future posts will continue to be the healing energy arts, though I plan to cast my idea-net a little wider.  Later this month I will be attending the 14th World Congress on Qigong and hope to learn some great stuff I can share with you.  In the meantime, if you have any questions about Reiki, Tai Chi, Qigong, Shamballa or Sound Therapy, please leave a comment on this post.  I'll do my best to answer it for you.

Kindness

K is for Kindness

One of my favourite quotes is from the Dalai Lama:

"Be kind whenever possible.  It is always possible."

So, let's practice random acts of kindness.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Let someone in front of you in traffic
Smile at strangers
Hold the door open for people
Help your neighbours:  shovel snow, carry their groceries, bring in their trash cans or babysit
Offer your seat on the bus
Leave a few quarters at the laundromat or in a vending machine
Pick up trash
Share your umbrella
Buy a coworker a coffee

There are over 200 kindness ideas at the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation

Please practice as often as you can.

Quotes to Consider

“If you are not doing what you love, you are wasting your time.”
Billy Joel

“If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.”   Epictetus

Understand (life) by
seeing how the stone
has been hollowed out by rain.

Do not cling to the illusion
that nothing changes.
Dr. Mikao Usui

“When we are no longer able to change a situation… we are challenged to change ourselves. Victor Frankl

“The wise stand out because they see themselves as part of the Whole. They shine because they don’t want to impress. They achieve great things because they don’t look for recognition. Their wisdom is contained in what they are, not their opinions. They refuse to argue, so no-one argues with them.” Lao Tzu

Vacuuming up

"V" is for Vacuum

Has your belief system sucked the air out of your ideas balloon?

Without careful attention, belief systems can become rigid structures, a dogmatic vacuum all thoughts and ideas are filtered through.  A rigid belief system always results in the same thing - a closed mind.  Getting your ideas balloon to expand involves being open to different ideas, especially those that run counter to your own.

It's at this intersection of belief and assumption where new ideas can take shape.  It's a tough corner to hang out on, but it's worth the blood, sweat and tears to have new ideas rise, inflate and float to the surface where they can be used to write a better book, be a better parent or run a better country.
